Are you a parent carer of a child who used to come to the Peter Pan Centre?
Our Stay and Play groups give children who need extra support a safe space to play and socialise. They also give parents a place to connect with other parents, to learn more about supporting their child throughout their early years and to receive emotional and practical support. Through our Stay and Play groups we can then provide targeted support to help parents tackle specific issues they are facing.
Who are we looking for?
We are looking for Peter Pan graduate parents to support at these groups with a helping hand, a listening ear and to share their own unique lived experience with others who are at the very start of their special needs journey.
To support at our Stay and Play groups you must be the parent or carer of a child who has accessed our services. You must also
- Be friendly, approachable, enthusiastic, trustworthy and reliable
- Be able to work well as part of a team
- Understand the importance of confidentiality
- Be supportive and non-judgmental
- Be able to commit to volunteering at one of the groups below, meaning a time commitment of 2/3 hours per week or per fortnight
Our Stay and Play groups run as follows:
- Every Monday, 10am – 12pm, at the Bescura Family Hubb, Burslem
- Every other Wednesday, 10am-12pm, at Newcastle Family Hub
- Every other Thursday, 1pm-3pm, at Hazel Trees Nursery, Fenton
What you will gain in return?
By volunteering with us you will develop new skills, increased confidence and self-esteem. You will be a key part of our Peter Pan team, helping to deliver our purpose of giving children with special needs the best start in life and their families the support they deserve. All Peter Pan volunteers receive full training and access to ongoing supervision and support as long as they are in the role.
Please note that we reimburse out of pocket expenses so volunteering with us will not cost you anything other than your time.
