Michelle Hollins

Senior Specialist Practitioner

I decided to become an early years professional because I wanted to part of children’s early development. Watching children grow and develop always makes me smile.

Learning about how to implement sensory strategies has been fantastic as it helps me to understand how different sensory activities can support children’s development. I enjoy learning how to support non-verbal children develop their communication skills through systems like Makaton and PECs (picture exchange cards).

I get a real sense of fulfilment supporting children with SEND in the early years. It’s amazing to see their progress from when they start with us. It makes every day rewarding, you get to know the families and it’s a really special place to work!

Michelle started working at the Peter Pan Centre in 2008 but left in 2010 because of her own childcare commitments. She missed it so much she came back in 2012 and has been here for 14 years in total!

She has a Level 3 NVQ in Children’s Care Learning and Development

Michelle loves Christmas and embraces all fancy-dress opportunities at the Centre with a smile on her face, and is usually found dressed as a pumpkin or a pirate
