Hello, and welcome to the new Peter Pan Centre blog. The purpose of this is to share information about the daily life of the centre, and also about other topics which may be of interest to the families who use our service.
We plan to include interviews with some of the volunteers who give their valuable time and energy to come and help us, and also with staff members.
We’d love to include some case studies – that is, some of the stories from the children who come to us, as we think there’s no better way to demonstrate the true nature and value of the work we do.
Rest assured, these would only be compiled with the full knowledge, consent and participation of the families involved, and in accordance with our ethics and safeguarding policies.
We will also be sharing links to articles and other sources of information that may be useful to parents and carers.
The idea of setting up a blog for the centre was introduced by a mature student, Kerry Fender, who has recently completed a work placement with The Marketing Rooms as part of her degree studies.
Kerry also writes her own blog, about Down’s Syndrome and family life, and is, as some of you will know, our parent trustee – in a nutshell, she is YOUR representative on the Board.
If you would like your story to be featured on the blog, or have any suggestions for topics you would like to see covered, please contact Mandy Price, the centre manager, on the office number.
We hope you’ll enjoy reading more about us!
